54 Harriet #1
While 42 Harriet seeks approval to be built within the context of 38 Harriet on its right, on its left the bank-owned 54 Harriet #1 seeks a buyer at $599,900 ($434 per square foot).
Purchased for $750,000 ($543 per square) in January 2005 by way of two variable rate loans totaling $750,000 (yes, 100% financing in San Francisco), the 1,382 square foot two-bedroom was taken back by the bank this past June with $607,500 owed on its first.
With respect to the other two units at 54 Harriet, the 767 square foot #3 sold for $611,000 in August 2005 ($797 per square), while the 1,044 square foot #2 has a tax assessed value of $712,708 ($683 per square).
And no, we don’t believe that’s the original fridge above.

  1. although I’d never want to live here myself, the actual unit has some positives. It has a nice amount of space and a nice deck off the LR. very livable IMO.
a pity about the appliances though because nothing screams “distressed property!” like absent appliances, even though they are pretty cheap to replace.
that picture is just hilarious with that tiny dorm fridge sitting between the cabinets like that.

  2. It looks like both the mini fridge and the microwave have Stainless Steel fronts on them so the Realtor ® will be able to say the unit has “Stainless Steel Appliances” (and let people assume that the unit has more than a $175 microwave and a $120 mini fridge)…

  3. The listing says 1.5 baths, yet I see two separate showers, two separate sinks, but only one toilet…and it is upstairs???

  4. The small fridge is actually a provocative statement regarding our consumption obsessed society, and at the same time, it makes a plea for a smaller, simpler, less encumbered way of life.
The entire unit is, in fact, an ironic statement that literally screams “Deconstruct me, please!”
I don’t know the artist, but I’m guessing he or she is from the former Soviet Bloc.

  5. Call me weird but I think it’s cool when a place doesn’t have appliances – I’d rather get the appliances I want and not pay 1.5% taxes on the microwave for 30 years.

Not weird at all; I agree completely and have often wondered why this is not more common…
