171-173 Beaver Street
We’re definitely digging the windows, decks, and views; and we know better than to judge a book by its cover (or in this case, a house by its listing photos); but for some reason the townhouses at 171 and 173 Beaver (“designed by Adele Naude Santos, Dean of the MIT School of Architecture”) aren’t completely taking our breath away. Perhaps it’s just the fireplaces. And perhaps you’ll feel differently.

  1. I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s the lack of staging that is the root cause for the photos not taking your breath away. It makes a big difference in photos and in person for scale more than anything.
I personally love Adele’s work. Not everything she’s done, but the majority of it.

  2. I agree, the fireplace treatments leave quite a bit to be desired. Somehow they just don’t fit in well. Other than that, I like both properties.
And since meredith commented on the lack of staging, I’m going to make a statement here that may have people coming after me with pitchforks and torches:
    I really can’t stand staging.
I’ve always prefered to view a place with no staging or furnishings. I like being able to see the bare bones of the place without any distractions. It gives me a much better feel for the space itself.
But that’s just my personal opinion.

  3. I don’t think Adele spent much time at the actual site-hence the walls of glass looking directly at the neighbors and the home depotish bathrooms! Yikes! Goofy choppy floorplans.
