A total 5,734 homes sold for over a million dollars across the Bay Area last quarter, surpassing the previous peak of 5,699 recorded in 2005.  857 of the 5,734 million-dollar homes sold (15 percent) were in San Francisco, a second-quarter record and 13 percent higher versus the second quarter of last year.

Santa Clara county recorded the most million-dollar sales in the Bay Area in the second quarter of 2014, a record 1,791 (up 22 percent, year-over-year), while Hillsborough was the top performing local zip code with 144 million-dollar sales, second only to Manhattan Beach (146), state-wide.
