Mint Plaza Officially Opens This Friday (November 16, 2007)

Mint Plaza Opening

It was almost a year ago the we provided you with the scoop on the proposed Mint Plaza (and introduced you to the Mint Lofts). It was six months ago that we let you know the plaza plan was approved and moving forward. And it's today that we remind you that the Mint Plaza official opening ceremony is on Friday (from 10am to noon).

Still wouldn't buy there. I don't care how nicely they photoshop out the rest of the surrounding "element" but it's a no go for me. Anyone know if they got rid of the smell and the homeless crackheads?

Yeah for more open space in downtown San Francisco! :)

"Anyone know if they got rid of the smell and the homeless crackheads?"

They probably got pushed down to the block to 6th St. But hey, you gotta start somewhere!

better hope they don't build any benches in that area orit will be overrun

Anyone know if they have 2 bedrooms for sale at this place, and the price range?

Count all yours blesssings. What they put in there (Mint Plaza) is many many times better than the crack heads and other degenerates that used to make that alley home before. Remember $$$ brings taxes. Taxes = More services cops and clean up crews. As I last recall most crackheads and homeless dont pay property taxes

It seems like there is room enough to have had at least one large tree. This is nice, but mostly consists of hardscape with some shade where it isn't really needed.

It's great to see the gov't continue to better the city of SF and make our city such a great place to live. Hooray!

wow...why is there so much hate for this project?

is everyone just looking for this to fail?

come on people - how is the area past 5th ever to impove without small steps like this.

I was there a few days ago. No 2BR's left.

Hmm, this line of thinking doesn't seem to work here in the Mission. 800k homes right and left, still getting crap/pee on the doorstep, syringes/condoms in the tree wells and 48 hr DPW response after owning here for six years+.

Nice thinking though. Let's hope Newsom's second term can help bring some more civility to the streets of SF.

Maybe the footnote is that more than 50% of the homes need to be paying property taxes at that $800k value rather than $200k. Just my guess. The other side of the story is that they can't find enough people willing to be cops in San Francisco.

Later in the day after the Mint Plaza opening, make your way over to Embarcadero Center for their Winter Carnival and Building Lighting Ceremony at the Holiday Ice Rink. Read more here: http://www.embarcaderocenter.com/ec/Holidays/index.html

By the way, I have no association with any of the stuff happening at Embarcadero Center other than my job is located nearby. I just thought folks might like to see some fireworks and other entertainment on Friday evening - or maybe some folks do like to watch the holiday lights on Embarcadero Center get turned on.
