110 Chattanooga #B (Image Source: zackdevito.com)

Designed and built by Zack | de Vito Architecture in 2004 (and with a working title of “2-unit building on narrow lot”), we offer up 110 Chattanooga Street #B as inspiration for anyone eyeing one those 18.25′ wide lots in Hayes Valley (the original budget was $1,300,000 for both units). Or simply an offering to those interested in modern architecture (it’s open both days this weekend). We’ll see you there.

UPDATE (10/21): Okay, we’ve taken the tour and if you’re a fan of modern/contemporary design we suggest you do the same (as usual, the pictures don’t do it justice). Now if we could only figure out a way to get our hands on #A…

  1. Whoever designed this atrocity should be ceremonially thrown out of the AIA. [Removed by Editor] The relationship to the neighborhood consists of two loading docks. Brilliant!

  2. jwb – it’s obviously subjective, but after seeing 110 Chattanooga in person we’re going to disagree with you on this one. We were surprised by how well it blends into the block, and we honestly think it enhances, rather than detracts from, the neighborhood. Regardless, thanks for “plugging in!”

  3. It looks like a gorgeous piece of architecture save for the snout-house effect on the sidewalk. Very Noe Valley: suburban-style car accommodation a given. Whoever ordered it up didn’t want to risk anything but 1:1 car:unit ratios. Frustrating to see, but SF is a part of California in this way (http://www.sfcityscape.com/features/TLC_interview.html).
I think I need a vacation in Holland!
