Having previously been redesigned to be more in character with the existing architecture of the city’s Northeast Waterfront Landmark District, the plans for Teatro ZinZanni’s proposed hotel and theater development to rise up to four stories in height along the Embarcadero, on the 250-space parking lot owned by the Port between Broadway and Vallejo, have been further refined by Hornberger + Worstell Architects and HRGA Architecture, as newly rendered below.

The refined plans would yield a 192-room hotel fronting Broadway, the Embarcadero, and Davis Street, connected to a glass enclosed gazebo, at the intersection of Vallejo Street, under which ZinZanni’s historic Spiegeltent would be permanently pitched and adjacent to which a new public park would be planted and privately maintained.

And if the Preliminary Mitigated Negative Declaration for the proposed project, which was just issued by Planning, is upheld next month, the project won’t require a resource intensive environmental impact report (EIR) to move forward and the development, which doesn’t including any off-street parking, could soon be a reality.

  1. While I’m all for that corner becoming more than the existing parking lot, this building is tragically boring…

    1. Yes, this is definitely exactly the same as half century old public housing. /s

Thank god nobody here has any real decision making power in these matters.
