141 San Pablo Avenue

Purchased for $1.9 million ten months ago having already been renovated and retrofitted, the rather dramatic English Tudor home at 141 San Pablo Avenue has just returned to the market listed for $2.475 million or 30 percent more than last March.

Built in 1926, the Tudor’s original two-story living room features a floor-to-ceiling picture window at one end, an ornate fireplace at the other, and a minstrel’s loft and skylight between.

The circa 2010 kitchen is outfitted with a Viking stove, an apron sink, and Brazilian stone counters.

And the adjacent dining room, which opens to the terraced yard, is outfitted with an over-sized fireplace and rather interesting daybed perfect for post meal naps or trysts.

  1. Hmm, I don’t know what to think about this one. It’s unique, I’ll give it that. I don’t know if I’d want to live there, however.

  2. The living room looks like a Swiss Chalet. I want to have a Ricola cough drop and yodel. Not sure whether I would nap or tryst in the day bed. Given my age, I don’t want to get rolled over to the adjacent fireplace for a cremation post-nap or tryst.

This house would make a great film set for a period piece.

  3. UPDATE: The sale of 141 San Pablo Avenue has closed escrow with a reported contract price of $2,330,000, up 23 percent over the past 15 months on an apples-to-apples basis for the “one-of-a-kind” historic Tudor home with views.
